VanJess, an R&B sister duo

VanJess have been killing it recently but who are they?

They are a Nigerian-American Contemporary R&B duo formed of two sisters, Ivan and Jessica Nwokike.

I only found out about them a few weeks ago after coming across their new song High & Dry. High & Dry is a lovely song with beautiful vocals from the sibling duo. The influence of the 90s sound is very evident when listening to High & Dry. Even the song cover gives off 90s throwback vibes.

After doing some digging, I actually realised that this wasn't the first time I had heard about them. Some of you may recall seeing them in a viral video a few years ago that was often used as a meme. For context, here’s the video:

Fast forward and I've discovered that they are more than just a social media sensation. Aside from their famous vine, they actually began their career on YouTube in 2008 where they covered many more songs, some of which went viral.

Since then, they’ve gone on to release their own original music, which has proved to be a huge success so far. They're an amazing sibling duo, whose vocals and music videos scream black girl magic.
