These past couple of months have been a lot! I don’t know about everyone else, but in the current climate, I’ve really struggled with listening to music. With everything that’s been going on in the world and on social media these past few weeks, it’s just been so hard to actually focus and listen to music. It’s hard to pinpoint what it is exactly, but it’s been hard to get in the right frame of mind to listen to new releases or just enjoy music as much as before. I just haven’t been in the mood at all.
But I’ve reached a point where I’ve realised that I need to take a break from the world. I’m mentally exhausted and I feel like listening to music may be the only thing that can help me at this point.
This desire to take a break from the world is what actually led to me listening to Teyana Taylor’s new album and you know what, I loved it!

If I’m being very honest, Teyana Taylor isn’t an artist that I listen to like that. I’ve heard a few of her songs here and there, but up until now I’ve never actually sat down and listened to her music. Not that she’s a bad artist or anything, but it just never occurred to me that I should seriously sit down and listen to her music. Having finally done so, all I can say is that it’s a shame I didn’t listen to her music earlier because wow she is talented.
I was so impressed by what I heard on The Album! It’s an amazing album and the vibes were beautiful from start to finish. “Beautiful” is the best word to describe The Album. I definitely think that if there’s an album you’re going to listen to soon, it should be Teyana Taylor’s. It has a bit of everything on there and the features are very impressive, including tracks with Erykah Badu, Ms Lauryn Hill, Big Sean and Davido.
Listening to this album really helped me to escape from the world a bit and it gave me a nice necessary break! It’s also encouraged me to actively try and listen to Teyana Taylor’s music. I don’t think that there’s a single song that I disliked, but my favourite songs from The Album so far have to be Wake Up Love, Made it, Wrong B*tch and Friends.
I’ve had this album on repeat all weekend and I have noticed a change in my mood. It’s not a dramatic change but it’s a small step towards something!
If you’re reading this and like me you’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed with all that’s been going on in the world, then I’d encourage you to take time out to listen to music. It will do wonders for your mood!
